The Center for Theoretical Physics: The First 50 Years

Join the Celebration

On Saturday March 24, 2018, we will have a one-day symposium to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of MIT's Center for Theoretical Physics.

This event will bring together present and former members of the CTP as well as friends, supporters, and others interested in the past, present, and future of theoretical physics. Speakers at this event will include former students, postdocs and faculty as well as some current CTPers.

Our goal is to look ahead at the future of theoretical physics as well as to celebrate the first 50 years of physics at the CTP. The agenda will include talks across the wide range of physics spanned by the CTP, aimed at a broad audience with a range of backgrounds and varying levels of current engagement with physics research.

We are grateful to Virgil Elings whose generous gift helped make possible the new space that houses the Virgil Elings Center for Theoretical Physics.
